THREE EXHIBITION OPENINGS 6PM NEXT TUESDAY

28 OCTOBER 2014
Main & Mezzanine Galleries: Hortus Conclusis Brunsfelsia: Siobhan O'Reagain
Park Gallery: Discovering Home:  Jetteke de Vries
Cafe Stairs: Messages for Mandela: Clint Strydom

Join the KZNSA on Tuesday 28 October for the opening of three new exhibitions:
In the main and mezzanine galleries Durban artist Siobhan O'Reagain presents
her exhibition Hortus Conclusis Brunsefelsia. This consists of an installation of
beautiful and delicate porcelain works and drawings that reflect her personal
interpretation of the garden, using both fine art and botanical approaches.
Jetteke de Vries's Discovering Home, explores the concept of home and what
it means to belong.  The artist takes us on a journey of identity and belonging
which is captured in the lives and narratives of three generations of female
protagonists.

Thanda, a Durban-based non-profit organisation that provides support & education
for children in rural KZN through after-school programmes has collaborated with
local photographer Clint Strydom to present Messages to Mandela.  Thanda
students were asked to write letters to Mandela which have been brought to life
by Clint Strydom's photographs of the children themselves.
The project not only portrays a hopeful and  smiling South Africa but also has
allowed these children to express their heartfelt affection and deep gratitude
for the man they call "Tata Mandela".

Welcome dear Reader.

This week we have some Auditions for you all over South Africa and a Scholarship for Directors.

Auditions will be held in South Africa in October to find the ultimate Whitney Houston impersonator.

Showtime Australia is conducting a world-wide search for the ultimate Whitney Houston impersonator for a new tribute show called "The Greatest Love of All".  Nationwide auditions will be held in South Africa in October 2012.  A singer with a superb voice is being sought to take the coveted lead role as Whitney Houston.

Auditions in Johannesburg take place at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein on 3 October at 13h00; in Cape Town at the Artscape Theatre on 5 October at 13h00 and in Durban at the Sibaya Casino on 7 October at 13h00.

Each artist interested in auditioning must send a CV, a current headshot and an audio demo to sales@showtime.net.au by no later than 1 October.  Artists accepted into the audition will be notified via e-mail with an audition time, will be required to perform a Whitney song and must bring their own backing CD.

Showtime Australia has produced some of the world’s top tribute shows including Queen – It’s a Kinda Magic.  The rampant popularity of these concerts is driven by Showtime’s ability to transport audiences to a time and place they once loved.
