Auditions for young dancers will be held to take part in Cape Town City Ballet's Christmas Season production on Saturday 5 October.
Dancers are needed for an exciting new ballet, The Tin Soldier, choreographed by the company’s artistic director, Robin van Wyk. The work will be presented at Artscape from 11-24 December and is based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale of The Steadfast Tin Soldier.
Young dancers are required for the roles of Pillows, Lambs and Little Boys. Auditions will be held for girls between the ages of 9 -11 (Pillows), and 12 – 15 (Lambs) to fill the parts. The number will be danced on pointe. Boys between the ages of 9-15 are invited to audition for the parts of Little Boys.
Auditions will be held on 5 October 2013 from 11h30-12h30 at the UCT School of Dance Lower Campus, Woolsack Drive in Rosebank.
Rehearsals will take place every Wednesday between 16h00-18h00, starting on Wednesday 23 October. Once a dancer has been chosen to be in the production, a more detailed schedule will be provided. Dancers will be required to be available for all rehearsals and performances.

iLembe will be presented in association between The Playhouse Company and the Sibikwa Arts Centre. Auditions will be held from 7-12 October 2013, from 09:30 am to 16:30 pm. “iLembe” will be staged at the Playhouse in April - May 2014 as part of The Playhouse Company’s New Stages season. iLembe is a potent drama depicting the last few months of the reign of King Shaka before his death.
The Directors seek to audition male dancers between the ages of 20 -30 years who can sing and have training in contemporary and African dance. The Dancers are required to prepare a short dance piece and a song. The Directors are looking for three women who have some storytelling experience and are above 35 years old to sing and play traditional South African bow instruments. To read more click here

The Theatre Benevolent Fund (TBF) is a welfare and humanitarian fund that supports all individuals who have been connected to the performing arts on a professional basis and who now find themselves in financial difficulties because of old age or ill health. Technical Production Manager required to manage the overall technical requirements for a chamber opera touring in Cape Town and Europe from April to July 2014 and again in September and October/November 2014.
