Highlights From ECR Gibs Business Breakfast

The business breakfast held at the Durban ICC was packed full of entertaining speakers.  Darren Maule was wonderful as the MC.  Here are some of the highlights from the breakfast:

Vusi Thembekwayo reminded us to focus on the corners rather than the straights.

J’Something provided us with some memorable tips on not only how to run a business but how to conduct your life.  He reminded us of the following:
‘I’m doing what I love.’
‘Without people you are nothing.  It’s an important value to have.’
‘I made more money last year from my cooking than from my music.’

Allan Knott-Craig Jr gave us a humorous insight into the life of an entrepreneur.
He reminded us of the following:
‘The Internet is an enormous opportunity to make money.’
‘Make the promise – keep the promise.’
‘Take a bit of a risk.’

Nicola Tyler delved into the world of lateral thinking for us and showed us how to think a little bit differently about not only business problems but also about life problems.
She reminded us that the system of education cannot sustain population growth.
