There are now over 700 million mobile connections in Africa with growth
of mobile internet usage being the world’s highest in recent years,
reportedly in triple digits in some territories.
Social media is directly connecting Africans through services
such as Facebook, Twitter and MXit. Facebook is one of the most visited
websites in Africa
and has been launched in Swahili, Hausa and Zulu.
a global mobile phone internet browser, “the mobile web is beginning to
reshape the economic, political and social development of the continent.”
The rapid rise of social media provides great opportunity for businesses
in Africa, especially for businesses tapping into Africa’s young and
booming consumer class. By formulating social media strategies,
companies as well as brands in Africa can leverage the continent’s
growing social connectedness for business growth.
Join in the discussion at the Africa Frontiers Forum with leading firms
