The Market Theatre Foundation, an internationally renowned premier arts institution based in Newtown, Johannesburg seeks to appoint candidates for the following positions.
BRAND AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
(Permanent, Affirmative Action position)
Responsibilities:
- Plan and Implement MTF’s brand and communication strategies,?programmes and projects
- Oversee the implementation of all communication and brand materials and services
- Coordinate at strategic and tactical levels with the other MTF units
Requirements:
- A degree or diploma in Brand Communications or related field
- 5 years’ experience in the field of arts or Brand Communication (middle management)
- Ability to develop strategies, systems and procedures as well as manage staff
- Ability to operate at a strategic level on Brand Communication issues

SOUND TECHNICIAN
(Permanent, Affirmative Action position)
Responsibilities:
Assemble, operate and maintain the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound for all events/ shows and conferences of the Market Theatre
Requirements:
- Degree/ Diploma in Sound technology or Sound Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Knowledge of technical theatre
- The ability to diagnose technical problems such as delays, malfunctions on the sound board and errors, in order to determine the true cause of the problem and solve it within a reasonable timeframe


MARKET THEATRE LABORATORY ADMINISTRATOR
(Permanent, Affirmative Action position)
Responsibilities:
To assist with all the administrative functions for the Market Theatre Laboratory
Requirements:
- A Matric and / or Diploma in Public Relations
- 1 year’s administration experience
- Basic financial knowledge
- Good organisational skills
- Good verbal and written skills
- Fluency in at least 3 vernacular languages
- MS Office Literacy (basic Word and Excel)
- An understanding of facilities management principles and procedures
- Experience in successful management of work schedules

Internship at ARTsouthAFRICA
ARTsouthAFRICA is looking for a web developer assistant with the following skills:
Basic requirements:
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills are essential
  • Familiarity with front-end web design programming (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Experience with common design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take ownership and assume responsibility
Advantageous but not required:
  • Experience with WordPress, Joomla, PHP
  • Experience with various frameworks, including Bootstrap
  • Comfortable with responsive development processes and technologies
The internship is unpaid for 3 months, but transport expenses will be considered.
