Amarula is having a party

Amarula Cream is celebrating its 25th birthday by giving away gifts to say thank you to South Africans for making it the country's best-loved cream liqueur.

The African Original is having a three-month-long birthday party, running from October to December, offering a host of 25-themed rewards.

Shoppers at the country's leading supermarket chains will get R25 back in cash, every time they buy a bottle of Amarula Cream, provided they buy two bottles at a time. That's R50 back on the double-bottle buy. The cash-back doesn't apply to single bottle purchases. Consumers can claim their money from their local ABSA ATM, using a digital code released on purchase of the pair of Amarula Cream bottles.

Meanwhile, some of the independent retailers are in on the party too, offering retro-style prizes to Amarula customers, including fedora hats and ottomans fitted with speakers and an MP3 player.

The brand has also teamed up with hundreds of bars, clubs and restaurants around the country. Every time someone orders an Amarula birthday drink from the participating outlets, they will stand in line to win a R25 000 cash prize.

There's also another R25 000 grand prize on offer in a digital competition with loads of other prizes too.

"We are very proud of our heritage as an African Original and an authentic marula liqueur," says the brand’s SA marketing manager, Christelle Bester. "What better way to celebrate than by giving back to South Africans who have helped build Amarula into the market leader."
