East Coast Radio’s Breakfast show host Darren Maule led by example this morning (Monday, 13 January 2014), when he rolled up his sleeve for a good cause. Darren was so moved by the story Natarah Nadesan carried in her 6am news bulletin about the dire shortage of blood across the country, that he persuaded the entire team to donate a pint.

“I heard Natarah say that patients are being turned away and hospital procedures are being postponed because there isn’t enough blood. So I decided to do my bit,” says Darren.

So, just after their show wrapped up at 9am, Darren and the team headed down to La Lucia Mall in Durban North where he, Gabriel Sithole and Big Mak Dlamini donated a pint each. Natarah Nadesan went along for moral support and to hold hands if required!

All went well but some members of the team (we’re not mentioning any names) may have had a bit more biscuits than he should have!
